WANNA LAUGH?!?!?!

Tony Walker

A young virgin gets married. Her & her new husband are too poor for a honeymoon or a house so they move in with her mother. The night of the wedding, they all return home.
The new couple are getting into bed for the first time. Hubby takes off his shirt.

The bride runs downstairs to her mother who is doing the dishes.
"Mama! Hubby is taking off his shirt!"

"Don't worry," replies Mama, "Go back upstairs. Your husband knows what to do."

She goes back upstairs. Hubby has taken off his pants.

The bride runs downstairs. "Mama! He took off his pants!"

PARANORMAL PUB "FORT GOLGOTHA"

My Experiences at Fort Golgotha

Having investigated this location on many occasions both day and night, I can safely say that the energy of the past is still present. I have heard footsteps crunching about on leaves in the fall and snow in the winter. We have seen an apparition of what we believe appeared to be a revolutionary soldier walking through the cemetery. I have captured "sprites" within the gates of the cemetery; a sprite is a light that streaks out across your field of view. They have an energetic glow and are able to be captured on video, yet not always seen with the naked eye.

With much sadness we inform you that Geraldine Ferraro has passed away. She lost her 12 year long battle with blood cancer today.

Mrs. Ferraro shattered the glass ceiling for women in politics by running on the Mondale Democratic ticket in 1984. She served in congress and was an attorney.

Rest In Peace Geraldine Ferraro

SAMMY HAGAR... HE ROCKS, HE ROLLS, HE INSPIRES TOO!

Tony Walker

This is a picture of me with the one & only Sammy Hagar from a few weeks ago.
No I am not the scary looking guy in the middle.... You see the guy with his back to the camera? Right next to his neck you can see my nose! It's me & Sammy Hagar!!!

This may sound a little weird but Sammy Hagar has been a major inspiration to me for a very long time.
When I was a kid.... I still am a kid.... when I was a teenager I saw some of Sammy's videos on MTV, back when MTV played music videos. I became a fan of Hagar's music. Once he joined the mighty Van Halen I became an even bigger Hagar fan. I am one of the few who like Sammy better than Dave.
There was something about Sammy that caught my attention. To me he seemed like a real person. He didn't appear to act like he was a hot shot rock & roll star. All the messages in his music were always upbeat, positive, & fun which I really dug.

We get through the work week - living for the weekend.  Then, Saturday arrives and there are so many things to conquer.  A giant "To Do" list comes to mind.  Not to mention the regular chores, chaos of kids activities, etc., and if you are lucky social events of some sort.  With the arrival of the weekend there is a whole different level of scheduling and accomplishments to be handled.  The events always seem to come in series of feast or famine. Inconsistent balance ever present even on the "easy off days" of the coveted weekend.

Tomorrow, I have a super Saturday of things to do. (And, despite the hour right now, I still say tomorrow, the day isn't over in my book until there has been some sleep.) So much will wait.  Because in the morning, no one has to be anywhere.  There isn't a

BORN FROM DARKNESS AND DESPAIR

Barbara Ward-Finneran & Dawn Boyle

What better way to give others hope then to see such amazing beauty be born out of what was formerly the darkness and despair of cancer.
Photographer, Michael D. Colanero’s, passion as an artist lead him to create visions that helps reconcile the desparities of cancer with empowering visions of hope.  This  journey to support Breast Cancer Awareness through the visual arts led him to create the Breast Cancer Awareness Body Painting Project: A Fine Art & Photography Essay of Survivors. These works of art came into being through the combined efforts of Michael and very talented body painting artist, Keegan Hitchcock.  Michael provides the photography and digital artistry and Keegan uses the bodies of survivors as canvases to literally bring the images to life. The artists work together to develop a concept and design so that work of art gives visual voice to the specific survivor and their story.  As Michael has stated, “So far 23 brave and incredible women have selflessly stepped forward and been painted for the project. I may be the creator but these SURVIVORS are the project. Everything is a true collaboration of the women the body painter(s) and my work as well. All of it then shared and appreciated by the people it touches. Every link in the chain is important.”  The imagery is first painted onto the breast cancer survivor’s bare torso. Then it is photographed and digitally remastered creating stunning images that are thought provoking while raising awareness by embedding the survivors backstory visually within the works of art. A combination that creates a masterpiece with not just aesthetic value but art for and with a purpose.  The positive impact of this project has limitless potential. With over 200,000 breast cancer diagnoses each year in the US, it is Michael’s aim to "reach in all the directions it needs to, to make the biggest difference to those who need it most - financially, emotionally and spiritually."  If that is the “body” of the project, then the heart and soul is to inspire hope and foster and breed encouragement for those still on the journey of fighting this disease.  There is amazing hope fostered when the women (and men) can see positive and beautiful images of those who have walked the journey and won the battle.
It is hope of DRL to give the “write” voice to this amazing project! The giving spirit and selflessness of these collaborative work and the backstories will continue to be shared here at the lounge in the coming weeks.
We invite you to join us on this journey, seen through the eyes of the artists’ and hearts of the brave women and men who allowed their inhibitions to fade and  in doing so, gave us, and will give the world, the opportunity to be touched by this amazing and awe inspiring art.

PARANORMAL PUB - FORT GOLGOTHA

ROBERT T. ROTHSCHILD JR.

FORT GOLGOTHA: 226 Main Street in Huntington NY, stands the Soldier & Sailor Memorial. Right behind the building stands the oldest public cemetery in Huntington, known by several names including Ancient Burying Ground, Old Burial Hill and Old Burial Ground. The oldest headstone currently there dates to 1712; however, the cemetery was there as early as the founding of Huntington in 1653. From September 1776 until March 1783, Huntington endured 6 1/2 years of occupation by British troops. The Old Burying Ground was used to house Fort Golgotha, built by timbers used by the dismantling of Huntington's First Presbyterian Church. British Colonel Benjamin Thompson, a.k.a Count Rumford, ordered the Church to be torn down on 11/26/1782. The timbers were reused to build his fort...Fort Golgotha. The labor was completed by American patriots forced into servitude by Count Rumford.

PIONEER GIRL

MARION PELLICANO AMBROSE

I've come to the conclusion that it’s a very good thing that I wasn’t born in the pioneer days!  When I was younger, I used to think that I would love the challenge and romance of those times. Today I learned, without a doubt, I never would have made it!

This morning the electric company turned off the electricity in our neighborhood for a few hours. No problem, or so I thought! I slept in little later (I forgot my alarm wouldn’t work) and got up to have my MUST HAVE morning cup of Earl Gray. I forgot: electric stove = no tea. OK, diet coke it is! Time to check in on face book and hit the Delayed Reaction Lounge! What? No connection? But I have wireless! Reset what? No internet for a while. OK. I’ll watch TV, no! Do some sewing, no! Make cookies, no, no no! I tried to switch on fans, turn on lights, play some music. I just couldn’t get used to not having electricity for even a few short hours! Pathetic!

YES GIRL

Jenn Copp

As I have said previously on this blog, I am a YES girl! Offer me an experience and I say yes. Be it a job a vacation, a night out! I love new experiences. In all the things I say yes to I also know that I love having my kids around  Most of the time they are with me. They have been with me at my stores and I love to watch them role play that they are selling things or acting like customers. I also know I only want  a business that they fit in. My 4 year old, Lily came on a repping appointment with me and there she was trying on tutu's and grabbing hair bows. The store owner was amazed and kept ordering everything Lily was grabbing. I thought to myself Lily is a natural. I may have been sweating thinking she should not be there but in the end she was a huge success. I am learning everyday, by trial and error, how to grow a business with kids. One day I will write a book. But for now it's baby steps and sprinkled with lots of laughs.

PLANET BONEHEAD

Tony Walker

So "What's Shaken" on this Thursday?

Planet Bonehead is what's shakin!

Have you guys heard of Planet Bonehead?

Talk about geniuses! Planet Bonehead is a web site, cartoon, musical, educational series that teaches kids about caring for the environment. It's not one of those boring shows that talk about some rainforest far far away... ok well they do mention the rainforest in some episodes.... but they also explain how kids can help their environment right in their own backyard! The cartoons are funny & educational at the same time. They revolve around some superheroes who save the earth against an evil empire.

They sell their DVD's on Amazon so you can watch them at home, or they also sell educational boxes which include the DVD & a whole lesson plan revolving around the subject featured in that particular DVD. They call it their "Field Trip In A Box." How cool is that?

Yes I am pushing this product because I am one of the hired writers & character voices on the show.

Watch a preview of one of the episodes here:

The turning point in the process is when you have healed your spirit enough to discover that the core of strength and courage that you need comes from an internal source, one that is fed and fostered by our Lord.  It's a journey down a path of self discovery and self acceptance that at times may seem practically impossible. Find the faith to believe in yourself and the rest will follow. There are no short cuts to any place worth going!

WANNA LAUGH?!?!

Tony Walker

Many of you have been asking how I lost my leg.

Well one night a few years ago I was in a bar.
I sat down next to a guy who had a dog sitting next to him on the floor.

"Your dog bite?" I ask.

The man says, "Nope."

10 minutes later the dog bit into my leg & tore it right off.

I yell at the man, "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!"

The man replies, "I did say that. This isn't my dog!"
